Hello.
We are Jake and Kristen. And we are getting married on April 14, 2012.
So, we thought we would compile this website so our lovely guests will have all the information they need to celebrate with us. And celebrate we will. Get down and boogie, might be more appropirate.
First things first, here's a little information about us.
We met a few years ago at a civil war reenactment. Jake was an old pro, and I was just getting started. We became friends, and remained that way until last December when one Sunday afternoon, Jake watched a Pittsburgh Steeler football game, despite loathing the Steelers since birth. It made him think of me, because well...it's no secret that I was born and raised wearing black and gold. (And grew up in a suberb of the Steel City.) One thought lead to another, and Jake called a good friend for advice. She offered to talk to me, and fill me in on his thoughts.
I. was. speechless.
Speechless for a good 10 minutes. I just remember pacing in my driveway, being so overcome with emotion. So excited. So nervous. I sent him a facebook message (it's funny now that I didn't call him), and the next thing I knew we were talking on the phone nightly. Then, at the end of the week I went to visit him. (Jake lives 2 hours away in London, KY.)
We went on our first date, the night began with me watching Jake play volleyball (he had prior plans to play, and I insisted he keep them), meanwhile I was trying to look calm, cute, and collected, and not freak out that I was on a date with the hottest guy I had ever talked too. After volleyball, we went to dinner at Ruby Tuesday, and we quickly fell into a great conversation, with lots of laughing, and I was almost exploding with giddyness. Oh, and I think I managed to eat 3 bites of my salad.
After dinner, we drove out to meet his Mom, and while we were driving in Jake's truck, he grabbed my hand and said, "The girlfriend title is there if you want it."
The rest is history.
Now, we are preparing for our future life together, and getting excited about the day when we will finally be able to be together everyday. Jake is the chef at our house. He's always coming up with new, creative ways to cook old classics. When Jake's not in the kitchen, he's working at Walgreens as a pharmacy tech, or playing an assortment of videogames, computer games, dice games. The boy loves games. And yes, he still plays volleyball from time to time, but without the nervous bystander. I keep busy with classes at the University of Kentucky. I'm a junior in the biology program. I vowed to finish my degree as quickly as possible, and plan (hope, pray, dream) of attending UK's dental school soon. I work at St. Clare Regional in the ER as a secretary, and will miss the ER (and Xray) crew very much when I move to London. I also have an obsession with textiles, from sewing to knitting, and everything in between.
We are members of the 5th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, a confederate civil war reenacting group. Jake is also a member of the McKee Masonic Lodge, and I'm a member of the affiliate Eastern Star organization, but I'm a member at the Morehead Lodge.
We look forward to celebrating with you at our wedding! You'll find all the information you need on this website, but if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Love,
The soon to be newlyweds.
